Victualling Board

The Victualling Board was one of the most important support institutions in the Royal Navy because it was responsible for supplying food and related necessities to ships and sailors. Naval power depended not only on ships and weapons, but on the ability to sustain crews over long voyages and long campaigns. Without reliable provisioning, fleets would weaken, morale would suffer, and operational endurance would collapse.
