Son of John and Laura Catherine Hannam Henderson, of "Felderland", Worth, Kent; husband of Agnes Jane Henderson, of "Hakone", Alverstoke, Hants. Specially promoted to Lieut. (1872) for the capture of the Slave Dhow "Jasmine," off the coast of Arabia. Served in the Ashantee Campaign 1873-74; Egyptian Campaign 1882-89: Senior Officer on West Coast of Africa at outbreak of Sierra Leone Rebellion 1898-9. Mentioned in Despatches and awarded C.M.G. Admiral in command of Atlantic Convoys 1917-18. Awarded D.S.O. for his War Services. Awarded Royal Humane Society's Medal for saving life at sea.
