Crossing the T

Crossing the T is a manoeuvre where one fleet crosses the path of another, allowing it to fire full broadsides while the enemy can only reply with forward guns. Although more associated with later naval warfare, the concept reflects earlier tactical principles. It maximises offensive capability while limiting enemy response.
